Swipe right πŸ‘‰ for the back story behind my last video post on making that gorgeous green watercolor, plus a short video at the end showing how sparkly it is!βœ¨πŸ–ŒπŸ’š Author friend and super Rock Hound @markgreenwoodauthor recently launched his latest work, "The Book of Stone". At the launch he set up a loooong table with stunning stone and rock samples from his worldwide collection, generously inviting everyone to choose one. This mottled green piece spoke to me, and is from Kununurra, a remote region in outback Western Australia. It was such a great evening, spent talking all things rocks and minerals, held in the historic @the_literature_centre, Fremantle. Photos of the evening include the No.1 Stone holder, Isaac Keylock with Mark, and THAT table! The Book of Stone is exquisitely illustrated by Coral Tulloch, and will be one of my favorites for years to come! πŸ’™πŸ“–
Making watercolor paint with natural minerals, this time from a beautiful copper & quartz rock, given to me by author and Rock Hound @markgreenwoodauthor (more about Mark, rocks and stones in my next post✍️) I'll be making more of my own paints to use in the upcoming book I'll be illustrating - watch this space! πŸ–Œ
Swipe right πŸ‘‰ for Orcas in the wild! πŸ–€πŸ€πŸ–€ This Orca is the subject of one of my new lessons just released (see my story or Highlights for link). Huge thanks go to @deborahburnsart, who took me out on the water to see these beautiful families of J, K and L pods of North America. We left from Seattle, journeyed through the San Juan Islands, and ended up level with Vancouver Island, Canada. It was an epic day that I'll remember forever! πŸ–€
My latest watercolor lessons from @miroom_official are here! Plus you can trial 650 lessons for 7 days free! πŸ–Œ Copy and paste the link below into your browser, or use the Swipe Up link in my stories☝️ https://miroom.in/subscription/lp?utm_source=creator_ad&utm_medium=room_144&referer=room_144
Last Saturday gave us the lowest tide I've ever seen at my local reefy beach. Combine that with scorching temperatures (we've broken records for 41C+ /105F temps this time of year), and the sea plants and creatures were really hit hard. With the high tide not due for another 12 hours, I managed to rescue quite a few abalone, starfish/seastars & assorted shelled critters who were left stranded and drying out. This Octopus was amazing with his colour changes. Starting off deep red in the water and seaweeds, he changed to match his surroundings as searched the rockpools for unwary crabs. πŸ™πŸ΄πŸ¦€ He's happy at the end under that little limestone ledge. I'll be uploading more footage (above and below the water) to my story's and highlights 🌊
Tiny treasures are the best. πŸšπŸ’™ From last weekend's extraordinarily low tide.
