The finished alcohol ink background, but this time with a different ocean inhabitant 💙🖌
The 🐋 🐋 🐋 are on their way! This piece celebrates the annual Humpback migration along our west coast 🖌 Their population here in WA has increased to around 30,000, coming back from the brink of only 500 after whaling stopped. It became uneconomical to hunt with hardly any whales left. Sad days. Thankfully, now they are thriving! 💙 Painted with alcohol inks on Duralar paper. 🎶 Holiday Gift by Kai Engel
Migaloo the white whale who migrates along the east coast of Australia turns 30 this year. We'll all be celebrating when he's sighted this season! 🎂 For Migaloo I used masking fluid to keep the white of the paper, and white pigment pen for the ✨ 🎶 Mangata by Jon Luc Hefferman
